European Climate Assessment & Dataset

The European Climate Assessment & Dataset (ECA&D) project serves as a crucial resource for understanding climate and weather extremes across the European continent. The project, launched in 1998 by the ECSN, benefits from continuous financial backing by EUMETNET and the European Commission, ensuring its sustained operation and expansion.

ECA&D's database is regularly updated, integrating new and revised series for various meteorological variables from numerous national agencies. Recent contributions include earlier sunshine duration records from the Estonian Environmental Agency, updated wind speed series from Meteo France, and new station data from regions like Puglia and Veneto in Italy, as well as updated series for Spain and France. The project also highlights the release of products like E-OBSv31.0e, further enhancing the available data for researchers and climate scientists.

This initiative plays a vital role in providing open-data access to a harmonized, quality-controlled dataset, enabling in-depth studies of climate variability and change.
