SmartForest

SmartForest is a research-based innovation center focused on bringing Industry 4.0 principles to the Norwegian forest sector. Its primary objective is to enhance the overall efficiency of the sector through a comprehensive digital transformation. This initiative addresses various aspects of forestry, from information management to operational practices.

The center's work encompasses the digital transformation of forest information, silviculture, forest operations, and wood supply. By enabling a seamless digital information flow, SmartForest seeks to foster smarter, more efficient, and precise methods within the industry. This approach aims to optimize resource management and operational workflows.

Operating as part of the Centres for Research-based Innovation scheme under the Research Council of Norway, SmartForest has a project period spanning from 2020 to 2028. The center collaborates with various partners to drive its research and innovation agenda, contributing significantly to the modernization of Norwegian forestry.
