Sentinel-2 Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs

The Sentinel-2 Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs dataset offers high-resolution optical imagery from the Sentinel-2 mission, specifically designed for land monitoring and Earth observation. Hosted on the Registry of Open Data on AWS, this dataset provides continuity for SPOT and Landsat missions, delivering global coverage of the Earth's land surface every five days. This version converts the original Sentinel-2 JP2K files into Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs), enhancing accessibility and processing efficiency.

Alongside the data, SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) metadata is provided in JSON files, enabling efficient searching and discovery. A dedicated STAC API called Earth-search is freely available to query the archive. The dataset continuously grows, with new Sentinel data added regularly, often within hours of becoming available on Copernicus OpenHub. L2A data is available from April 2017 for wider Europe and globally since December 2018.

Access to Sentinel data is free, full, and open, adhering to Copernicus OpenHub's Terms and Conditions.
