Rain over Africa

The Rain over Africa (RoA) dataset provides spaceborn estimates of precipitation across the African continent. These estimates are generated using only geostationary imagery and are processed through a convolutional and quantile regression neural network, also including valuable uncertainty estimates. This approach leverages advanced deep learning techniques for accurate environmental monitoring.

The dataset is updated at most yearly and is available under a CC BY 4.0 license, promoting open access and reuse. It is managed by the Geoscience and Remote Sensing department at Chalmers University of Technology and is discoverable on the Registry of Open Data on AWS, now also accessible via AWS Data Exchange alongside numerous other data products.
