Oregon Explorer

The Oregon Explorer hosts an archive of the Oregon Spatial Data Library (OSDL), providing access to non-framework data layers that were available before the OSDL's retirement in January 2025. This service ensures continued availability of historical geospatial datasets for various applications.

The OSDL was succeeded by the Oregon GEOHub in January 2024, which now serves as the primary source for Oregon's authoritative geospatial framework data, metadata, and services. The archived data on Oregon Explorer includes a variety of datasets covering national and statewide scales, such as the "Atlas of United States Trees" and numerous Oregon-specific land cover, fire occurrence, and vegetation maps.

Key datasets include 1998 OR-GAP Land Cover, Fire Occurrence data (Federal, Local, State) from 1986-2003, the 1992 Oregon Actual Vegetation Map, and the 2017 Oregon Community Wildfire Protection Plan Boundaries. Each dataset typically offers both a download link and associated metadata. Users are advised to proceed with caution due to the highly variable data and metadata quality within the archive.
