OpenDTM-DE is a project to create a unified, high-resolution Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for Germany. It aggregates freely available 1-meter resolution terrain models from individual German federal states. This initiative addresses the absence of a nationwide high-resolution DTM from the BKG, offering essential geospatial data products.

OpenDTM-DE is a project dedicated to creating a free, high-resolution Digital Terrain Model for Germany. This initiative arose because, while federal states in Germany provide high-resolution terrain models, a unified, nationwide high-resolution dataset from the Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) is not available. Existing nationwide models like DGM200 and EuroDEM offer significantly lower resolutions (200m and 60m respectively).

The project's primary goal is to process and integrate the diverse high-resolution terrain models now freely available from all German federal states. These state-level datasets, released under the EU Open Data Directive, typically offer 1-meter resolution. OpenDTM-DE aims to provide a consistent dataset using the horizontal reference system EPSG 25832 and vertical reference system EPSG 7837 (DHHN2016), with a 1-meter resolution and a tile size of 40 km.

The project offers key geospatial products, including GeoTiff files with 1m resolution and contours with a 10m interval in shapefile format. This provides a valuable resource for various applications requiring detailed topographic information across Germany.
