InSAR.dev

InSAR.dev is the next evolution of PyGMTSAR, offering a federated Python ecosystem for satellite interferometry. It separates the workflow into SLC data preparation and core interferometric analysis, designed to scale efficiently across hundreds or thousands of bursts, multiple polarizations, and orbital paths. The ecosystem consists of three Python packages: insardev_toolkit, insardev_pygmtsar, and insardev, facilitating advanced InSAR processing.

InSAR.dev represents the evolution of PyGMTSAR, providing a federated Python ecosystem for InSAR processing. This platform is under active development and significantly enhances capabilities beyond single-polarization scenes and bursts along one orbital path.

The workflow is strategically divided into two distinct phases. The first phase focuses on preparing SLC data, which includes essential steps like geocoding, flat-earth and topographic correction, and packaging data into cloud-ready bursts. The second phase then performs the core interferometric analysis on these preprocessed datasets. This modular design ensures that the system can effectively scale to process hundreds or thousands of bursts, accommodating multiple polarizations and various orbital paths, as demonstrated by examples processing 8 Sentinel-1 scenes (approximately 1000 bursts) across 2 orbital paths and 2 polarizations (VH, VV).

The ecosystem is built upon three interconnected Python packages. insardev_toolkit offers general utility functions and helpers. insardev_pygmtsar is dedicated to Sentinel-1 SLC preprocessing, requiring GMTSAR binaries for its operations. Finally, insardev handles the core interferometric processing and analysis, notably with no external dependencies. While insardev_toolkit and insardev_pygmtsar are BSD-licensed, the insardev package may necessitate a subscription for specific use cases. Interactive notebooks are available to demonstrate its capabilities, including processing on Google Colab.
