HELCOM Map and Data Service

The HELCOM Map and Data Service (HELCOM MADS) is an online platform offering open access to an extensive collection of geographic and environmental data pertinent to the Baltic Sea region. It functions as a comprehensive map explorer, allowing users to visualize and interact with hundreds of datasets as distinct layers. This service is crucial for understanding and monitoring the Baltic Sea environment.

A wide array of data is available, including information on bathymetry, biodiversity, marine protected areas, and shipping traffic. The platform features recently updated datasets covering specific and diffuse loads of Nitrogen and Phosphorus, as well as their retention. Data is organized into categories such as Indicators and Assessments, Monitoring, Human Activities, Pressures, Red Listed Species and Habitats, and Biodiversity, ensuring easy navigation and discovery.

Powered by Esri, HELCOM MADS integrates contributions from various reputable data providers like the National Land Survey of Finland, TomTom, Garmin, FAO, NOAA, and USGS.
