GeoSeer operates as a comprehensive spatial data search engine, providing access to a vast collection of geospatial web services. It indexes over 3.5 million distinct spatial GIS datasets, encompassing various service types such as WMS (Web Map Service), WFS (Web Feature Service), WCS (Web Coverage Service), and WMTS (Web Map Tile Service). These datasets are hosted on more than 400,000 live services originating from diverse locations worldwide.

The platform offers robust search functionalities designed to help users efficiently locate relevant spatial data. Users can perform spatial searches by including geographic terms like "Australia" or "rivers Asia". For more precise results, it supports including EPSG codes to prioritize datasets in specific projections. The search engine also accommodates queries for particular service types, such as "wcs Germany chart", and allows for standard search features like exact phrase matching and exclusion of terms.

Advanced search options include Boolean logic, enabling users to combine search terms with "AND" (default), "OR" using the pipe |, and grouping with parentheses (). This flexibility ensures that users can tailor their searches to find highly specific datasets for integration into their GIS applications.
