geoBoundaries is an open database that provides political administrative boundaries for countries worldwide. This resource is built by the community and the William & Mary geoLab, offering an extensive collection of administrative boundary data under an open license.
The database tracks approximately 1 million boundaries within over 200 entities, including all UN member states, since 2016. It offers various data options, including individual country files, global composite layers with demarcations for disputed areas, and simplified boundaries for cartographic needs.
All boundaries are available for visualization or download in common file formats. The datasets are provided under the CC BY 4.0 license, allowing for most commercial, noncommercial, and academic uses, with the only requirement being proper acknowledgment.
