GEBCO

GEBCO, the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans, is a collaborative international project focused on developing and making available a suite of global bathymetric data products. Its primary goal is to provide the most authoritative and publicly accessible bathymetry data for the world's oceans, supporting a wide range of scientific and practical applications.

The project offers a diverse collection of data and products, including annual releases of gridded bathymetry data (e.g., GEBCO_2025 Grid), regional grids for areas like the Arctic and Southern Oceans, and a comprehensive list of undersea feature names. Users can access these resources through various formats, including web services (Web Map Service), printable maps, and historical charts. GEBCO also provides an IHO-IOC GEBCO Cook Book, offering guidance on bathymetric data processing.

GEBCO plays a crucial role in the Seabed 2030 project, an international effort to map the entire ocean floor by 2030. Through its continuous data updates and commitment to open access, GEBCO serves as a fundamental resource for marine research, navigation, resource management, and understanding Earth's underwater topography.
