The Earthenv Global Habitat Heterogeneity dataset provides 14 metrics that quantify the spatial variability of global habitat. These metrics are derived from the textural features of Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) imagery, captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). The data is designed to support biodiversity and ecosystem modeling, offering insights into habitat composition and spatial arrangement.

The datasets include six first-order texture measures, which describe compositional variability in EVI, and eight second-order texture measures, reflecting the spatial arrangement and dependency of EVI values. These measures are available at three resolutions: 30 arc-second (~1 km), 2.5 arc-minute (~5 km), and 12.5 arc-minute (~25 km). All data layers are provided in WGS84 projection and cover a global extent from 85ºN to 60ºS and 180ºW to 180ºE.

Key metrics include Coefficient of variation, Evenness, Range, Shannon, Simpson, Standard deviation (first-order), and Contrast, Correlation, Dissimilarity, Entropy, Homogeneity, Maximum, Uniformity, Variance (second-order).
