The Atlas platform, managed by LSU, provides public access to a variety of high-resolution geospatial datasets, primarily focusing on Louisiana. These datasets are essential resources for researchers, planners, and the general public interested in the state's geography and environment. The platform aims to centralize and disseminate valuable geospatial information that was previously difficult to access.

One of the key offerings is the Louisiana Statewide Lidar Project, which delivers high-resolution elevation data for the entire state. This was the first initiative to provide such comprehensive lidar coverage, making detailed topographic information accessible online. Users can find both map viewing options and direct downloads for this significant dataset, which is crucial for applications like flood modeling, terrain analysis, and infrastructure planning.

Beyond lidar, Atlas hosts various aerial imagery datasets. This includes the GOHSEP 2010 Aerial Imagery, offering 6-inch statewide Digital Orthophoto Quarter-Quarter Quadrangle (DOQQQ) imagery provided by the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Another notable dataset is the DOQQ 2008 Coastal Imagery, which covers coastal areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and includes both true color and color infrared layers. These imagery datasets provide valuable historical perspectives for environmental monitoring, land-use change detection, and disaster assessment.
