This resource offers access to a multi-faceted aerial laser scanning (ALS) and photogrammetry data collection for a 1.0 km² area in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. Acquired in April 2019, the collection comprises 85 flights and 157 tiles, delivering billions of laser points for high-accuracy urban environment representations.
Each flight line package contains LiDAR Point Cloud files in LAZ format, LiDAR Full waveform files in PulseWaves and LAS formats, and RGBI Nadir Imagery files in TIFF format. Future releases will add 16 hyperspectral data files. The dataset was collected using a RIEGL LMS-Q680i LiDAR Scanner and an ITRES MicroCASI 1920 Hyperspectral Camera, flown at approximately 1000 feet above ground level.
This valuable dataset supports urban informatics research and practical applications such as digital mapping for auto navigation, pedestrian wind modeling, disability access optimization, solar modeling, and disaster preparedness. It serves as a foundational resource for detailed analysis of the urban landscape.
